A year ago, the most important demand which garden furniture specialist Hartman had when they searched for an application which could produce a standardized layout for all their business documents was very simple: It had to be a document layout tool which was easy to manage and which could work independently of their host system, an IBM System I (formerly AS/400). Quadira, Dutch output management specialist and LaserNet Output Management supplier, gave a demo of LaserNet. One month later a decision was made to implement LaserNet in the Hartman organization.

A year later, Onno Brouwer, systems administrator at Hartman, and Fred de Blok system coordinator ICT from JIS, are still extremely satisfied with LaserNet. At present, the two are busy testing a new version which will replace the predecessorvery soon. The simplicity and the speed with which documents can be produced with a standard layout are, according to the two of them “absolutely persuasive”. Not to mention that both of them are impressed with the fact that LaserNet can work with all IT systems and applications.

User-friendly documents in a moment

At Hartman, LaserNet is especially used as a document layout tool to create user-friendly and professional-looking documents. Invoices, orders affirmatives and package lists are designed and printed with LaserNet using the correct document templates and logos.

Onno Brouwer and Fred de Blok have had one day of training a year ago with Quadira where they learned how to produce new documents and do modifications and changes onexisting busi¬ness documents with LaserNet. After only one day, they were both able to do just that and they could independently go to battle with the challenges of setting up document templates in LaserNet for Hartman. Only very rarely has it been necessary to call in additional help from Quadira, a fact that underlines how userfriendly the software suite really is.
