MUNICIPALITY OF ESBJERG

Top data quality in Esbjerg

The Municipality of Esbjerg perceived a noticeable improvement in the organisation’s data quality after just one month of working with Quality Control. This system is helping staff to proactively improve their data quality and ensure that no sensitive personal data escapes.

“We are now in a far better position to share data with the general public,” says Henriette Spang Sørensen, ESDH consultant for the Municipality of Esbjerg.

Data and trust go hand in hand

The Municipality of Esbjerg purchased Quality Control as there was greater emphasis on improving data quality within the municipality. The Municipality of Esbjerg wanted to ensure that staff, management and citizens could fundamentally trust that data would be controlled – both now and in the future.

“It was completely obvious that we had to enhance data quality so that we would be in a better position from which to share data with the general public. We want secure, valid data that underpins and enhances trust in our case management procedures,” says Henriette Spang Sørensen, ESDH consultant for the Municipality of Esbjerg.

“Quality Control was the obvious tool for enhancing data quality across the entire organisation,” she continues. “The biggest benefit of the system as far as we are concerned is that it does not just work on our ESDH system Acadre, but in the long-term it can be linked to our shared drives – and in fact, to all other specialist systems as well.

And an additional benefit of the system and our focused data quality work is that it will place us in a far better position for dealing with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).”

A selection of options

Quality Control in a standard tool that systematically and constantly scans your preferred data sources on the basis of rules that you define yourself. And of course, it comes with a fair bit of inspiration from ourselves and our other customers as well. The flexibility of the system ensures that the tool can be adapted to your everyday requirements – easily, quickly and without problems. The system regularly provides each individual staff member with specific instructions so that they can proactively correct critical data errors.

“We have chosen to go all-in and customise the system entirely to suit our needs. This has demanded a great deal of insight into our own processes, procedures and needs so that we could actively decide what specific rules we need within our organisation. But this enormous amount of preparation is certainly worthwhile for us. We are deriving far more benefit from the system, while at the same time we have also gained a completely unique insight into our processes and procedures that we can certainly use in the future.”

Achieving results – together

Everyone who chooses Quality Control is given access to an online knowledge sharing forum. In this forum, people share experiences and specific rules and guidelines across organisations. This ensures a sense of community while permitting dynamic and simple expansion of the system and allows the system to be utilised far more effectively.

After just one month working with Quality Control, Henriette Spang Sørensen at the Municipality of Esbjerg is very clear about her. “It has exceeded our expectations by long way. Our data quality has improved noticeably, and that is a really positive thing.”

“Although it means extra work for our users initially, we all know that will improve rapidly. In the long term, this system will have a preventive effect that will tidy up staff procedures and create healthy new habits when it comes to processing sensitive personal data.”
