The Development Journey of Web Document Import

Written by Admin | 29 August 2023

The Web Document Import tool delivered in Autoform DM's 10.0 release back in 2021 marked a major overhaul in document archiving by allowing users to import and index documents through a web-based interface replacing its legacy applet-based solution.

Drew Spencer, Senior Developer and lead on Web Document Import's development over the last two years, said:

"The primary benefit of Web Document Import is enabling your users to get documents into Autoform DM as quickly and easily as possible. Import applications are highly flexible - they can be as simple or complex as needed, adjusting to your requirements. In addition, integration with other systems is secure and easy, with almost limitless possibilities; if you can send it via the web, Web Document Import can receive it, validate it against your configuration, and store it safely.

The next version of Web Document Import will include the ability to scan barcodes directly in the browser, further speeding up data entry for end users. The value from the barcode can be used to instantly retrieve existing records in the system, which pre-populates the data entry screen, saving users time and preventing errors. There's a lot more features to come as well, but we can't tell you about those just yet!"
