Markem-Imaje searches for a simplified document management platform
Since 2007, Markem-Imaje, a global specialist in intelligent identification, traceability and consumer interaction solutions, has relied on SAP to manage its operations across 41 entities.
Their old form editing system, although functional, required a dozen servers and no longer had the support of its editor. Markem-Imaje carried out a study to explore and evaluate possible solutions, also drawing on the expertise of Teamwork, a specialist in SAP projects. Markem-Imaje wanted a platform that simplifies the design and creation of forms, avoiding complex and costly SAP developments. The objective: to simplify the architecture, gain in reliability, facilitate the design of SAP documents (invoices, BLs, certificates, labels, etc.) and ensure compatibility with S/4HANA.
Selecting the right solutions
To reach their objective, Markem-Imaje had three major use cases they were solving for:
1. Composition and distribution of SAP documents
At the end of the analysis, SEAL Systems' PLOSSYS solution was selected, integrating Formpipe's Lasernet composition engine. Released into production in 2023, this new architecture has made it possible to reduce the overall reliability of the system from twelve to two servers, significantly reducing maintenance and monitoring costs while strengthening the overall reliability of the system.

The Lasernet engine processes the raw data from SAP (RDI, XSF) and transmits it to PLOSSYS, which distributes the documents via the user-defined channel (print, email, etc.). More than 3,000 SAP users benefit from this new infrastructure.
2. Printer administration and flow monitoring
Administrators have full control over processing and distribution workflows thanks to PLOSSYS' supervision interface. In addition, SEAL Systems has implemented the easyPRIMA solution, simplifying the reporting of printers and distribution channels in SAP and PLOSSYS. This integration contributes to more efficient and less time-consuming document management.
This increased transparency for SAP users and administrators was also paramount, as was ensuring the availability of print and mailing services through an optimized architecture.
3. An SAP-certified and S/4HANA compatible solution
SAP certification and compatibility with S/4HANA were essential criteria to ensure the sustainability of the solution.
