How Mirion Technologies made managing complex documents simple with Lasernet

Mirion Technologies is a leader in radiation safety, measurement and science. Drawing on 60 years of experience in research, problem-solving and product development, the team of more than 3,000 professionals works to create solutions that address the unpredictable nature of ionising radiation.

The organisation uses the ERP system Infor LN, a solution designed to simplify and automate discrete manufacturing operations. After e-invoicing regulations were first unveiled in France, Mirion Technologies began its search for a document management solution that would make the e-invoicing process as smooth as possible.

The global leader in nuclear measurement and detection systems quickly discovered that Lasernet was the optimal tool for ensuring the invoices they processed were fully compliant, allowing them to meet the e-invoicing regulations that came into play in France in 2018.

Finding a Chorus Pro-compatible solution

Mirion Technologies’ primary motivation for purchasing Lasernet in 2017 was to allow its Infor LN ERP system to be securely connected to Chorus Pro, the software platform on which French government departments receive and process e-invoices.

The French government created Chorus Pro in 2016, and since then, millions of electronic invoices have passed through the system. Since 2018, 100% of Mirion’s invoices have been sent through Chorus Pro with the help of Lasernet, ensuring they are compliant with France’s e-invoicing regulations.

How Mirion got more value than it bargained for

Here’s where the Mirion Technologies’ team really demonstrated their innovative streak. While the initial reason for purchasing Lasernet was for e-invoicing compliance, the company quickly grew to using the software for 10 different types of documents, centralising all core documents for customers and vendors.

Denis Florimond, IT Team Leader for the Applications Division at Mirion Technologies, noted some of the ways the organisation has simplified document management using Lasernet. For example, he explained that the team can now update headers and footers significantly quicker, saving precious time and reducing errors.

Denis also revealed that the organisation recently set up another new use case to ramp up its productivity - a bespoke workflow for more efficient PDF management. Here’s how they chose to configure the workflow: First, the software reads a folder for PDFs received via Microsoft Outlook. Next, instead of users having to manually save and process each attachment individually, Lasernet extracts them and changes the file names to ensure consistency and improve searchability.

Finally, the software applies a certificate to protect the documents before sending them to its dedicated SharePoint site for long-term storage. The new workflow transformed a once complex process into a refreshingly smooth document archiving workflow, and Mirion are reaping the benefits.

"Any documents provided by our ERP for customers or vendors always go through Lasernet… It’s a very powerful tool with many uses."

- Denis Florimond, IT Team Leader, Applications Division at Mirion Technologies

What does the future hold for Mirion Technologies?

The organisation has big plans for the software. Denis explained that they want to replace an old tool that no longer meets their needs with Lasernet, and promote the use of the software in other areas of the business. The future is undoubtedly bright for Mirion Technologies and, thanks to the team’s innovative and forward-thinking spirit, they continue to uncover new applications.

While Lasernet was initially purchased for its e-invoicing capabilities, Mirion Technologies has been used to improve more workflows than they could have imagined. We look forward to seeing how they use the software to further reduce the time spent on manual tasks and drive productivity across the organisation.
